Guest hydrillagorilla
Good day, I am getting close to pulling the trigger on a used boat. I am searching for opinions on this particular boat. '93 Stratos 201XL, the boat has a 200 Evinrude and I ran it the other day...it seemed strong! Most everything works except the speedometer, which I don't care about. The carpet is in 'C' condition with about a 6"x8" hole the trolling motor handle looks to have made. I have made an offer of $5,000.00 for everything. It has been accepted, we started at $6,000.00 Thoughts???? Thanks in advance! Happy Releasing, Hydrillagorilla
Shad_Master
There is a fella in my local club that has a Stratos and if he is any example, you will not be able to tear this boat up. He abuses his pretty badly and it still keeps humming along. Not sure what would happen if he actually took care of it
Nick_Barr
it is a good deal, I also know a fella who has a stratos, it is a nice boat.
fishinfool
yeah man, stratos is the way to go in my opinion. my first bass boat will be a stratos or skeeter...gotta stay away from those champions unless you got some good climbing gear. Super User 5bass Posted May 25, 2005 Super User Share Posted May 25, 2005 I'd do a compression check before I bought ANY boat.
Guest hydrillagorilla
Good advice 5bass. They are suppose to be performing one today. What do I needed the test to come out to? What is considered good compression?
Bass_junky
The compression rating. Al cyclinders shoudl fall within 5-7lbs. of each other. If not you have bad rings. I hope this is correct. The exact compression of one cylinder, i am unsure of but your local marina or boat dealer should have this info...
Josh256v
Stratos rocks! I just got my first bass boat about a month ago, it's an 88 15'6" with an Evinrude 70 horse in it. I beat it up pretty good this weekend, huge water. It's still runnin strong, and the hull didn't split up on me.....good to go...
Super User 5bass Posted May 26, 2005 Super User Share Posted May 26, 2005 Anything under about 90 psi per cylinder means that the motor is tired. And as someone mentioned above, all the cylinders must be within 5-10 psi of each other. I would watch them do it. People lie. Gauges don't.
