I recently bought mustad toad hooks in 4/0 and they appear to be very narrow.  Im afraid that when i rig them the toad will not depress far enough out of the way to get a good hookset.

 

So for now Im using an ewg spring keeper swimbait hook.  Are all toad hooks that narrow and does it effect performance that much?

There are wider toad hooks, and yes, narrower hooks affect the hookup when used with thicker frogs
