Mo_Tick
i've got a Merc 4 hp 1972 Motor. it didnt push any water out so i ordered an impeller. i removed the Lower unit and the top cap of the water pump. found the impeller to be in pieces. i am trying to remove the old impeller and am finding it difficult because its in a tight spot. i am doing this without a Manual (for now) but how does one take the shaft off to give me more room to remove the impeller. and yes i am to get a Manual. just thought i'd tap the knowldge base here. Ben
Again, not much on black, but normally, you can slide the impeller off. It may be stuck at the bottom where it's been running but you should be able to get it to slide up the shaft after you clean the shaft off good. A manual is a great tool.
