Transom on Old Jon

Featured Replies

i have a 79 landaue 1448, its in pretty good shape, but there are things i would address to make it better.

One is the Transom, the wood on this one isnt rotted or anything it just looks Ruff, or Red Neck, i dont mind red neck but they can still do it better.

the wood is on the inside, i noticed in newer Jons the wood is on the outside. what things should i consider before tearing into it and replacing it. should the wood be on the outside? it looks to me (without takinf the wood off) the inside has a 3/8 or 3/16 alum plate across the transom, then covered by wood.

thanks in advance

Tom

I would rebuild it just as it was personally.Coat whatever you use with polyurethane or fiberglass resin and you'll never have to do this again.

Good luck!
