Best Lake to fish for Bass - Suffolk, VA

Featured Replies

I am looking to get a nice bass. I have only caught one little one all year. I am new to bass fishing. I live in Suffolk, VA. I have been to Lake Prince, Lake Cohoon, and Western Branch Reservoir. I want to use my time wisely. Any thoughts on a good spot to fish and which lake. Thanks in advance.

Cohoon would be my number 1 choice.  However, the Branch may have the best and biggest bass of all the Suffolk lakes.  It can also be a pain during the hot weather.  Whatever lake you pick, I'd suggest starting at safe light with topwaters on main lake flats/points.  From there transition to deep diving cranks, jigs and t-rigged worms.  All of those lakes have a great population of bass.  Good luck.
