getting new boat

Featured Replies

I am getting a new jon boat this week and was wondering what you guys thought was the best deal between these boats.....

1) A pelican Scorpio

2) A tracker topper 12 ft jon boat

3) A  watertender 9.4

I like the scorpio best, it has a larger weight capacity which usually means it is also more stabe and it has the most hp. rating----and horsepower is a good thing ;D

I like the Tracker. Has potential. You could do something like LBH did to his boat with that. The other two seem cheesey to me. JMO.

THE TRACKER IS JUST NOT WIDE ENOUGH  , VERY UNSTABLE. ALMOST LIKE A CANOE . I LIKE A BOAT WITH A MINUMINUM WIDTH OF AT LEAST 48". DO YOU INTEND TO USE THE BOAT ON SMALL WATERS ? IF SO THE SCORPIO IS THE BOAT I'D BUY OUT OF THESE THREE BOATS . I WOULDN'T WANT TO USE ANY OF THEM ON A LARGE BODY OF WATER.

i have looked at those jons before.  the problem is that they are not very wide.  this will cause the boat to be very unstable. i use to fish out of an old ten foot jon that was similar in width as those topper jons.  not very safe.  for $500 i would look into one of those pond prowlers or bass hunters.  the ones made out of plastic and look like little pontoon boats.  my brother bought one this spring and it is way better then my old jon.  you cant flip those things if you try.  nice little boat.  most of them are pre-wired for a trolling motor.
