How much do you think a 2005 Ranger Z21 with a 225 Optimax, the trailer, 36V trolling system, and normal gear load weighs?  

I'm getting ready to potentially purchase this, and am also in the market for a tow vehicle.

Single console is 1875 lbs. Dual is 1900.

Then you have the weight of the motor, batteries, etc. which shoul bring it up to another 600-800 pounds, possibly more. It is not tough figuring out a tow vehicle though. Chevy Truck all the way baby! Z71 4x4 with 5.7 litre!! ;D

I'm thinking of maybe a Chevy 2500 with the Duramax.  I'll be pulling this thing lots of miles.

You cant get a 5.7 litre in a chevy truck anymore, to get one you'll have to go back to at least a 1998. The 1999 tahoes and suburbans still had the 5.7 but anything with the newer body style has the smaller v-8 or the 6.?? bigger v-8. I love the 350's, I dont understand why they changed them. Bowjunkie is telling you right though, go with a chevy. They have the best trannys in the business and thats most important when towing. Im talking about gasoline engines so all of you powerstroke guys can throw your 2 cents in too ;D

A F150 can pull it but it has to work to hard to do it. The new Toyota Tundra has no problem pulling them.

I'll more than likely end up with one of the big three's 3/4 ton diesels.  Besides for the boat, I hope to add a Lance camper to it sometime in the next year.

And for those curious about my original question.  I got an email from Ranger that said with engine, batteries, trailer, gear and some gas, I need to be able to pull about 5000.  When I add everything up, I get somewhere around 4000 or so.

don't forget the weight of the

trailer = duel axle could go 500 easy

fuel,

gas weighs about 7 1/2 pounds a gallon

7.5 x 30 = 225

7.5 x 35 = 265

7.5 x 40 = 300

oh and remember the
