G. Loomis rod Selection Help!

Featured Replies

I'm ordering a G. Loomis spinning rod very, very soon .I've got it narrowed down to two and need a little assistance deciding. First, let me start by explaining what I will be using this rod for: Drop shots, weightless plastics, some ned rigs, finesse jigs and other finesse presentations that I cant throw on a bait caster. The two rods I am choosing between are as follows:

E6X 822S DSR 6'10 XFast 3/16-1/2oz Mag Med 6-12lb test Split grip handle

E6X 842S SJR 7'0 Fast 1/8-3.8oz Medium 6-12lb test Full cork grip

i'd probably go with the 7' because the fast tip vs x fast.  i like the fast tip for the lighter line/smaller hook type of stuff you're going to throw.  also goes a hair lighter on the lure weights and if you're fishing over 3/8oz you should be able to do that on you're casting rod if you want.

Agree with the 842. The DSR would still be a very nice rod, but the 842 will be more versatile and fit your needs better as an all-purpose finesse rod. Enjoy!

I'm sold. 842 it is. Thank you guys for the advice. Very much obliged.

You want to check out the 852s as well.  It will do well with those applications. Just depends on if you want the extra fast rip or not.
