Where to fish in central ny this weekend?

I will be staying in Altmar NY this weekend for three days. I have two inflatable canoes I was looking for a body of water that won't be overwhelming as far as size goes. My inflatables are not great for moving around but are fine on small lakes and ponds. I see the Salmon river reservoir, sandy ponds (north and south), cranberrry pond, etc. Most of these look bigger than I like but if anybody knows the fishing is good I'd try it. Or any other suggestions are greatly appreciated. I live in buffalo ny so I am not familiar with the area. This also means i won't be able to hog anybodies secret spots!
