Is it a Large or Smallmouth?

Featured Replies

Sorry for a question that seems so elementary, but I got caught this fish at dusk last night, using a boo yah frog from shore in the Sacandaga Lake in Upstate NY. It looks like a large mouth especially based on size, but all the other large mouths I've caught around here have a nice dark stripe running down their side and this one doesnt. So my question is did I catch a nice large mouth and a really nice smallie? Thanks for the help guys.

The picture is not the best, but it appears to be a largemouth.

Largemouth

that is a largemouth, depending on how deep they have been holding and/or water color the dark line can get washed out

Yep, 100% sure it is largemouth, and a good one at that.
