Looking for a fish finder

I was hoping that I could draw from the knowledge of the members on this site to help me with a tough decition.  I was looking at the lowrance series of fishfinder but then I came across the Humminbird 787c2.  For the dollar value I can't find a lowrance that seems to compare.   The bird has higher resolution at 640V x 480H.  Where the Lowrance has 480V x 480H.  The bird alsAdd-on Accessory Capability:

These are the spec on the bird.  I can get it for $629 so for dollar value I think its the  best buy.  Does anyone have one of these and if so how do they perform compared to the Lowrances.  

Does anyone have any thoughts on the unit.   any help would be apreciated.
