Daiwa RG spinning reels

Featured Replies

Picked one of these new reels up from the local Gander Mountain the other afternoon (Daiwa RG).  I am amazed at how smooth and the quality of the build of this 60 dollar reel.   I have been a Pflueger die hard when it comes to economical spinning gear, their line of reels is certainly tough to beat in the value for price competition.  However, I am going to say that the President has some company at that  price range and I believe that the RG is actually the better reel.    If you get the chance, check one out and let me know what you think.

I've known it for years and agree with you.  All my spinning reels but 1 cost no more than $60 and all are Daiwa.  I do have 1 President (30 size) that is on a rod that I keep at the in-laws place and it's decent but I prefer the Daiwa's.

Pflueger gets a lot of love around here and they should.... I prefer daiwa however. I had a $25 one from dicks that I used forever and it was great. I'm very excited to try out the new bg series when they hit the shelves.

I have one of the newer Fuegos and can confidently say the new spinning reels that Daiwa is putting out are the best in the business.

I'm not familiar with a Daiwa RG.  I do, however have two Regals and I would rate my Pfluger President much higher in overall performance. Not that the Daiwa isn't quality crafted, but the drag and rotor balance is superior on the Pfluger.

I can't wait to get a hand on these new reels and give them a try... It seems like Pflueger has had (at least on BR) a stranglehold on that segment of the market for reels.  Great to see someone pushing in there with a nice product.

It has here on bassresource, but most people I know, and especially those willing to spend more than 60 bucks on a reel prefer shimano or daiwa
