BillyBob
I've got a universal transducer on my Minn Kota pro max. I like the built in feature, but it doesn't have temperature sensor. In the spring I like finding little temp. differences in the coves while on my trolling motor. My question is...Has anyone ever tore down or into the universal transducer to try and change one out, or adapt it to a different trans.? It comes with a 20 degree cone and I don't like the wider cone. I definitley like the lift assist ! Not for lifting but for letting it loose into the water, so I don't want to tear it up, but would love to tinker with it.
Triton_Mike
Bob, Personally what I would do is put the temp probe on the transom. When you are constantly lifting the trolling motor in and out of the water I have found that it often takes up to 5 minutes on occasions to finally settle down on a temperature. By having the probe on the transom it's almost always in the water and takes less time to find the accurate temp. I agree with you the tempertature is the most important electronic gadget you can have on your boat! T Mike
NBR
I agree with Triton Mike. Simpler, probably cheaper and much easier to install a temperature gauge with the probe off the transom.
