Holey Lands 9/4/16

Holey Lands, Sunday 9/4/16, Bright sky, temp 95*, crystal clear water, water temp 89*, current flow to the west, wind east 5-10.  Nicest day in weeks.

Went to the Holey Lands on the Broward / Palm Beach County  line, with good friend Rick.  We fished from 6:30 - 11:30 and caught fish at a consistent rate.  From the ramps we ran east to the pump houses along the east canal.  Water was flowing from all the pump houses and running back to the west.  I started with a trick worm and began catching on the first cast.  Rick threw a Hollow Body Frog and had no takers.  Soon Rick switched to plastics and began catching.  We then ran back to the big lakes and caught fish along the north shore.  Bass were not shallow , but sitting off the drop-offs.  We then decided to run to the west canal but the water was running too fast to fish effectively.  We ran back to the big lakes and continued to catch them all along the north wall, on zoom flukes, senkos, and zoom trick worms.

We finished the day with 25 bass caught, and lots of bait fish bites, so we never had much down time.  The good news was we had lots of action.  The bad news was, all 25 bass, might have weighted 20 pounds total, with no bigger bites.  At the ramp, we met other guys coming in, all with the same story.  Good action, no size.  It was still a fun day, and mother nature finally decided to cooperate with the weather.

Thanks for the report George. Glad you guys had a productive outing.

I have never fished there, where is the ramp?

The entrance to the Holey lands is exactly on the Palm Bch/ Broward border on the West side of US27. When you enter off US 27, the ramps will be 6 miles WEST, and the entrance to the ramps will be on the North side. You can't miss the sign, and its the only structure out there. Google Earth Holey Lands, and you we'll see what I'm saying.

Thanks for posting the report George! Sure was a fun day on the water!
