HEy Guys,

I got my newspaper the other day and saw that Academy had the Minn Kota 30 lbs thrust trolling motor  in it for 79.00.  What do you guys think of this motor?  Been loooking for a good trolling motor to push my 12 ft. jon boat with me and my buddy in it.  Is this a big enough motor to push us around on a private 50 acre lake?

shoot yea, thats a great deal!!!  30 packs a punch for its small size.  it will have no problem pushing a 12ft jon around 50 acres.  glad that ya found a good deal!!

That would work fine. I used a 36# Minn Kota on a 300+ acre lake when i first got my 16' jon. This was of course before i could afford the 15hsp i have on there now though...

That kota 30 will have no problem.  I used mine all last year on our 12ft jon, in a 35 acre lake.  No ploblems at all.  We also use a 50# minn kota to push our 22ft long (12 FOOT beam) ; party barge  ;D on the same lake.  No gas on the lake and that minn kota pushes it with ease.
