New lean seat suggestions?

Featured Replies

Hey, for the past two years I have wanted to buy the lean seats made by Wise.  Actually had them in hand once at BPS.  They are the bicycle seat with the 'cut' crescent in the back for leaning, and pretty certain they come standard with Triton boats.

My '97 Stratos has shorter poles with chairbacks, anyone have specific suggests of the length of poles needed for the lean-seats for someone about 5'9 (yep, short)?  I am guessing approximately 36", but if anyone has done what I am talking about I would appreciate the input.

Thanks.

Al Lindner's Lund has one of those type seats on his show Angling Edge. I kind of like the looks of them too. His appears to have an adjustable post. I think that is what I'd go with for that application.

i was wondering about the post length also  bps magazine only has uo to 31 inches

Cajun,

That is the same problem I had with BPS...the catalog for one.  But last year when about to purchase the seats, I could not get ONE of the employees to tell me exactly what I needed, and they did not have the length I assumed I would need.  Hopefully someone on here can lead us in the right direction.

I am being stubborn on this one and posting this to get it back up top...

...hoping someone can give some detailed info.

My back keeps telling me I need a lean seat.

Not sure what kind of base you need, but I bought these type of seats for my boat last year and bought adjustable (22.5"-29.25") Springfield pedestals from BPS and they work great. I am 6' and they are low enough to sit on and high enough to lean against. :D

I would just get an adjustable one (leaning post).  This way you can raise or lower it to exactly where you need it.  Plus, If you switch up with whoever you are fishing with, they too can adjust it to fit them.

26 1/2" is where mine is at.  Not including the pin from the wide part to the top of the post without the seat on it.  Mine used to raise and lower but broke - now I use a hose clamp to manually adust it :-/

I am same height as you and use a similar Stratos seat as you mentioned.

Hope this helps Ball Coach

Thanks for the detailed posts, hoping to have something to save the ol' back here in the next few weeks.

Let us know what you decide to get and if it works.  I know if I could find something that helps it would increase my time on the water.
