abu garica black max good for pitching and flipping

Featured Replies

I have been fishing for some time but now I'm trying to get specialized equipment and I have heard that the Abu Garcia Black Max was really good for pitching and flipping because of his having drag someone help me out on this or should I look at a different reel all together

If you are flipping into heavy cover I would go with an aluminum frame reel.  The Black max will work buy won't last as long as an aluminum frame reel.

bassraider810 send me an e-mail at  fishnkamp@comcast.net. I will share a way to purchase a much better reel for $100. It is the Daiwa Tatula CT and I would suggest a 8-1 if you want a right handed or a 7-1 if you prefer a left handed reel for pitching and flipping like me. They regularly retail for $129 everywhere. Right now I have a source selling them for $100 shipped to your door. I have purchased 2 from them myself. Over the last 3 years I have replaced 5 of my reels with some version of a Daiwa Tatula (3 Tatula Type Rs and 2 Tatula CTs) in left and right handed models and in different gear ratios.  This includes my Tatula Type R, left handed 8-1 reel on my 7 foot Abu Garcia Veritas flipping rod.

I use the Orra 2nd generation for pitching/flipping. aluminum frame light, good drag. love em. have 4 of them.
