Keelguards

Featured Replies

I'm wanting to put a keel guard on my 20' Bass boat and there are several out there. I was wondering if any one has tried to put one on and how is it holding up? Or should I pay the money and have one installed like Hamby's which is pretty expensive.

I had a Keel Shield on my Pro Craft for 4 years and have just put one on my new Ranger.  I installed both with no problems.  Takes 1 to 1 1/2 hrs.  Take your time, follow the instructions, and it's easy.

Thanks Bassinal,

What was the length of your boat and what length of keelguard did you put on it?

Does your trailer have Keel rollers in the middle and does your guard stop before the roller?

I was told that Rangers for several years came with Hamby's guard,on them?

What is the cost of a keel guard?

My stepdad has the keelguard, it pretty nice. Though I have seen the HAmby's Protector and its wider and is a bit tougher material. But the KeelGuard is pretty easy to install.

Castle44, I have a 2006 188VS Ranger (18' 8")  I have Keelshields not Keelguard, and I believe it's 7 or 8' long.  On the package it tells you depending the length of your boat which one to get.  My Ranger trailer has no rollers or nothing to ride up onto the Kellshield.  I don't think it would matter if your rollers rolled onto it or not.  Better safe than sorry, call them and ask!  Keelshield is an advertiser on my web site so I get them free.  Check with Bass Pro Shop, I believe they are having a clearance on them right now.  Maybe around $125.  Good Luck!
