Adding a trim gauge...

Featured Replies

A friend of mine has a 05' 185 Tracker with a 90 Merc on it and we were discussing the other day on how to trim out your boat to get top speed. He mentioned his didn't come with a trim gauge and I told him that I used mine to find that optimum spot. Not to mention to make sure your motor was down enough taking off.

I guess my question is, is this something that we could easily do or would you recommend the dealer add it.

To install you'll need a holesaw and wiring stuff to hook it up. Fairly simple.  You'll have to find where the trim sensor wires are at in order to hook them up.

Trim gauges are probably one of the most useless gauges on the dash.  I can see if my motor is trimmed all the way down for take off and I'm watching the Tach, not the trim gauge when I honing in on maximum speed.
