finnally got my own boat

Featured Replies

i finally saved up 225 bucks and got my own 10ft basstracker boat..its kind of ghetto cause u have to straddle the boat to sit on the seats but its better then nothing. i have a minn kota 28lb motor and i have these small batteries that my uncle stole from work...im not sure wut size they are but with 4 of them fully charged i can run the boat on a 3 or 4 speed for about 2 hours. my question is..what kind of battery should i be looking at for a good 3 hours+ run... and how much will it cost me

If you are on a budget I'd go to Wal Mart and get an Everstart Marine deep cycle battery. Buy as big a one as you can swing. They are probably in the 45-65 dollar range. While you are there you can get an Everstart automatic deep cycle battery charger for around 20 bucks. A good rule of thumb is to charge your batteries as soon as you get home from fishing.

It floats, right? It's all good!  Do what Madhouse said.  Don't forget a life preserver and maybe  throwable flotation.  Upgrade as soon as you can afford it.

Been there nofish! It's a big step from shorebound to out there on the lake(no matter what the boat looks like). When I was 20 and got my first ole beat up,leakin' jon boat,I loved that thing like a Ranger. As time goes by you'll upgrade.Enjoy being out there on the lake!
