Anyone have any experiecnce with Express bassboats? I am looking at one that comes stock with a 200hp merc....How is the ride? How's it handle in wind and rough water?

I know some one with there jon boats he has a 40hp jet on the back he uses it for rivers. sorry but I dont know any thing about the bass boats. but thats a big motor for a aluminum boat I bet that thing will fly. it will also be a rough ride in chopy water.

Supposedly the new bass boats have a hull design similar to a fiberglass bassboat. Have read about you few guys fishing FLW out of them. I will also get a hydralic jackplate .... and wont have to worry bout chipping the hull......bass better enjoy it while they can. ;D

I just bought a 2000 17' Xpress bass boat with a 90 hp Merc.  I am very pleased.  I think you will get more sound from water lapping against the hull with an aluminumn boat, but I have not noticed enough difference to bother me at all.  As for handling, I don't have anything to compare to.  This is my first bass boat.  I had a 14' Stump Knocker with a 25 hp Johnson before this.  So clearly, I think this handles great.  It is a smooth ride as long as you have your trim right.  I assume you will have hydraulic steering.  What size boat are you looking at?

I fished out of one (19 or 20 footer) with a 200 Merc on Lake Wheeler, Ala. a couple of years ago.  The water was a bit choppy from a west wind but the ride was anything BUT rough.  25 minutes at 64 mph was a walk in the park.  I even drank a soda on the way with no spillage.  They are very nice boats... don't let the aluminum fool you.
