Featured Replies

i have a 12ft boat thats 30-37 in wide at bottom and i bought a 25hp bucaneer it was suipposedly sold by sears yrs ago and i figured that for $75  y not waht do yall think

You better hope it runs long enough to get your $75 out of it because when it breaks and needs a part, there probably are none to be had.

I'm a firm beleiver in if your gonna buy an old motor, it had better be an OMC or Merc

i was hopin for a evenrude, merc, omc but i think i can get parts made for it if nuttin else cause my uncles a machinest

I have a 13.5' aluminum semi V with about the same beam.  It is only rated for a 15 HP.

The State I live in requires you to have a HP rating plate on your boat before you can register it.  So you may want to check with your State.  My State's web site had a form you filled out and sent in with the dimensions of your boat.  Then they sent back the plate listing the maximum allowable load and HP, for a small fee of course.

You may have too much HP if it is an aluminum rig.

Good luck.

i have muine registered and with no hp ratin plate and no problems im bettin that its gonna fly thank for yalls input though and any other thoughts are appreciated

What you gonna do for a prop???  Most likely that ones gonna be the wrong pitch.

That old motor is going to be pretty darn heavy on the back of a 12 ft boat.  Like I said in my first post, I sure hope it runs long enought to get $75 worth of use, but really wouldn't plan on it.  Machinest uncle can't turn out carb kits, ignition parts, rings, gaskets, and many other parts that most likely will be needed.

All I can say, don't say you wasn't warned.   Just hate seeing someone throw good money up a wild hogs a** and holler sooooweeeee!
