One transducer - Two Screens?

Featured Replies

Hope this is the right place to ask an equipment quesiton.

Anyway, I have the Lowrance 480 Ms, or 480 MMS - whatever it's called.

The transducer is mounted on the back of the boat, and the until sits next to my steering wheel (I use it for a flasher when running)...

I would like to have something on the front of the boat so that my partner and I don't have to try and share the screen all the time.

Do any of you know if there is a product or way that I could put a display screen up by the front?  I don't need it to to anything other than show me what the unit is showing, so I hope there is a solution.

thanks!

yes install another finder in the front put the transducer on the trolling motor  it will show you whats comin instead of what you passed up

Dougherty:  does this mean that I'll have to buy a whole new set up for the front of my boat, or is there just a disply screen out there that is a cheaper alternative onceI get the switch box?

Sorry for the newbie question :-[

As far as I know. You will need a whole new unit and it will share the transducer with another unit. I do not know of anything that will allow you just to see the the display of the other unit. If there was my guess would be it would cost just as much as a full unit. You would need a depth finder with a video out jack. if they made them.

Lowrance does make lowrancenet some kind of network to share data between GPS, Depth Finer and radar. You would have to look to see if they make just a display.

if your putting a unit in the front the best  thing to do is add the transducer in the trolling motor   2 veiws  comin and goin are better than 1 view

Until you get into the $4,000 range no two units can share the same transducer at the same time. There isn't enough bandwidth to handle it. If you want either/or unit using one transducer then get the transducer switch posted above. It will swith the transducer signal to one or the other unit. I use one, located in the bow, even though I have a trolling motor mounted transducer and two on the transom. Sometimes while on the bow I want to compare screens between front and back of boat to help determine which way fish are moving, so I can select either end of the boat.
