Dobyn's Fury 663c for jerkbaits/topwater

Featured Replies

Anyone use this rod before? Looking to get a jerk bait/top water rod around this price range and I really like to use Dobyn's, st Croix, or g loomis so I thought maybe I'd try this one out. Don't see many reviews about it though.

I'd say that would be perfect. Nice short rod and around medium power. Dobyn's tend to be lighter, which is really nice whenew fishing slash baits.

I use the G loomis JBR 752 jerkbait specific rod for running my jerkbaits.  I use to use a 6-6 MH IMX for jerkbaits and love the short rod for this.  The 6-6 MH was a good pole in its own regard.  I think the Dobyns will serve you well at that price point.

Keep an eye on the handle length.  the 6'6" Savy's and Fury's are 14".  You might not get along with the longer handle while working the bait.  I've borrowed a buddy's 6'6" savy and what hitting my forearms with the handle.

The Sierra has a Medium 6'8" that's got a 13.5" handle...  That's a bit nicer for sure.

Champions have 6'3" model with a 12" handle and a 6'8" with 13" that's a much nicer set up.
