What should my next rod and reel combo be??

Featured Replies

Everyone,

I have a 6.4:1 reel with a med. 7ft rod. I have it equipped 12lb fluorocarbon for my crankbaits and jerkbaits. I'm getting another rod probably medium heavy 7ft

With either a 7.3:1 or 8.1:1 reel with 30lb braid. Just wondering what reel would be most beneficial for jigs, worms, lipless crank, and spinner baits.

7.3 so you can slow it down some with the spinnerbaits and lipless while still having the advantage of a high speed reel for jigs and senkos

I find that slowing down is less taxing than speeding up. I'd go with the 8 to 1. That way you could slow down and get close to a 7 to 1, or speed up on the 6.4 to 1 to get towards the 7 to 1. I used to only fish a 7 to 1. I went to fishing two baitcasters in 6.4 to 1 and 8 to 1 and don't regret it at all.

I recommend this as your next combo I can't afford it but you didn't mention a budget so get this one I'm positive you like it!
