removing trim motor

i have the two bolts that appear to be the only ones holding the trim motor onto the resv. but for some reason the motor will not come up and off the resv housing. any suggestions?

You will probably find you need to get personal with it.  Tap it side to side to loosen it and see if you can get the blace of a screw driver under it to pry upwards gently while you tap it more.   They normall make a machine fit into the housing, the flange just keeps it from working out.  Remeber, these are all machined surfaces so get too personal.

did you mean to DO GET personal...beat the hell out of it?

i can move it back and forth (swivel) and we tried wedging a screwdriver under the tabs with no luck.

does the unit need to be under pressure or not under pressure?  does that matter?

Sounds like you've gotten about a personal as you should.  I'm at the lake for a little fishing but if someone else don't have a solution, I think I have a manual at the house when I get back home sunday night.  I'll see what it shows.

well it took some additional help (and a few additional hints from another forum) but eventually it came out.  thanks way2slow for your help.  hopefully new brushes is all it will take to get back on the water.  it's been over a month and im going crazy.
