small scale jig skirts making

Featured Replies

Hey guys so I was thinkin about trying to make my own vibrating swim jigs. With that said is it worth the investment of making my own skirts or just buy finished jigs and add the blade?  Very seldom have I ever replaced a skirt on a jig usually I just replace the whole thing

I would recommend assembling your own jigs.

There is very little investment in purchasing skirt making material. A 10-pack of skirt tabs costs only $ 2.00 to $ 2.50 at Fishing Skirts (one of the places I purchase skirt material). I also make a lot of jigs with round rubber which is even less expensive when purchased in bulk.

Find a jig style you like for bladed jigs and purchase the plain jigs heads painted or unpainted. Your cost per jig that you tie up will likely be less than $ 1.75 total. Finished jigs these days go for $ 3.50 and up.

i was informed about lureparts.com. i have been looking and it looks like it can help save a person a few bucks. i went and cleaned out my boxes and found 7 spinner baits skirt-less and 3 jigs. i am thinking about getting some in the winter due to the fact that spinner baits low use. i use jigs during the winter and fall or spring a lot more. i might try using rubber bands.
