Just got back with my boat,Questions

Featured Replies

Well I traveled to Vegas this weekend to attend my Uncles funeral services. Before I left to go up there my cousin called me and told me I was going to be coming home with a boat. I thought,OOOOKKKKAAAYYY????

Anyway. What he ended up giving me was a 1969 10'2" Flat Bottom boat made by Sears. Along with it he gave me a 4 HP Chrysler Outboard,1 Motorguide Trolling motor,1 MinnKota foot control trolling motor,a Marine deep cycle battery, oars, life vests,4 3 spinning combos,1 baitcast combo and 4 tackle boxes full of assorted lures and gear. I am overwhelmed. My Aunt told me to take what I wanted and if I didnt take it it was gonna be tossed. My cousin took what he wanted and told me to have the rest.

Anyway to my question. The outboard as stated is a 4hp Chrysler. Is it a 2 or 4 stroke? It has a built in fuel tank. I need to find out what year it is,I also dont have any literature for it. Where can I get a manual that will give me an idea of how to operate it,and what control is what. What are some strengths and weaknesses of an outboard like this? Thanks

It is a 2 stroke.  It will push that little boat at a good clip.

Look there for manuals and whatnot.  As for parts,  you're pretty much out of luck.  I have an old 6 HP Chrysler that belonged to my grandfather.  Tried to find parts for it, nothing.

As for the boat, has it been registered before?  If so, (and if NV titles their small watercraft) did you get the title and/or registration?

I got the title and it was already notarized. Im sure here in Arizona the watercraft rules are a whole different animal. Not even sure if a Title is needed here. Im new to this so I still have alot to learn.

Everything you need to know about registering a watercraft in Arizona.

It seems you will need to complete this before being able to register the boat.

Here is the form needed for registration.

I had that same boat (Sears 69 10'). We threw a 15 on it and use to pull buddies around on a wakeboard with it. It was a lot of fun until.....well no need finishing this story of irresponsibility! Needless to say the boat is gone!

Kids, dont Drink & Drive!!!!

But youll love the boat, its pretty easy to fish out of buy yourself.

for sale: Boat missing transom,lol

Nice info hook-up Burley. ;)

We could start our own antique sears/fisher team!!  (same boats)

We could, but since mine is for sale (and supposed to have a guy coming to look at it sometime this week), the team wouldn't last long.  ;)

Hey, I'm still low budget though.   ;D
