Transducer Freq. - 200 or 50??

Featured Replies

Which frequency do you guys prefer for your transducer, 200 or 50??  To me, 50hz. is a much lower frequency and could be similar to the sound of a med. to low speed trolling motor drone.  A 200hz. frequency is higher in tone and could be less noticable.  I'm not a fish and I don't know what frequencies really bother the fish.  If I had to guess, 200hz would be the better setting for the transducer.

What is your preferred frequency setting?

Also, do you guys notice a difference in fishing spooked fish with or without the fish finder on??  Jolicious has a Lowrance LMB-40M which is a good unit.  I was told that the transducer may be spooking the fish.

Uhh.. I believe you mean 50 or 200 kilohertz.  not Hertz.

Both of those frequencies are beyond the human ears capability to hear and is nowhere near the frequency at which a trolling motor runs.

Neither bother the fish -

192-200 for detail

50 for deeper depths

You're right, it is khz.  Sorry.

Thanks for the clarification!

As George noted,  200 is fine for most bass fishing. 50khz is better suited to deeper offshore fishing, or if you do some deep water bass stuff.

I've never noticed a difference with the FF on or off, as far as spooking fish is concerned.
