How do I adjust the direction of my trolling motor in relation to the angle of my foot pedal? I'd like for the arrow to be pointing straight when my pedal is laying flat. Right now when my pedal is laying flat the arrow is at about the 3 o'clock position, I'd like for it to be at the 12 o'clock position when the pedal is flat. Has anybody ever made these types of adjustments? 

I've never done it and I don't know if all TM are alike but the ones I've had apart seems all you would need to do is adjust the shaft gear. Kinda hard to explain but loosen and remove cable gear ( its straight with teeth) and adjust the shaft gear until its where you want it, then reassemble.  I came here to say that trying to adjust this might cause you to lose mobility but the small amount you want shouldn't change anything.

If the arrow and direction your boat moves are in sync, you'll need to adjust the cable gear. If the arrow is pointing in a different direction, you can remove the head and position the arrow accordingly.  If it's a new motor, take it back to where you purchased it and let them fix the problem.

I should have said that it's a minn Kota maxxum and yes they are in sync but I have fished out of other boats and they all seem to be the same except for mine. I didn't pay much attention to it until a guy was fishing out of mine and was having a hard time and they pointed it out. It's bothered me ever since lol

I have adjusted mine, Its very easy to do. Just set trolling motor down, pull off the top cover and disconnect the cable and lift the gear up or out. Then you would turn the trolling motor to the forward position then set the pedal where you want it to be in forward position.

if your boat goes in the direction the arrow is pointing, I wouldn't mess with it. last year I installed a new Motorguide X5 and the arrow stuck after my first trip. took it apart and nothing would fix the problem. seems like cheap plastic parts. it's a problem for many X5's. no known fix from Motorguide yet.  got me a new boat and went with a Fortrex. MG should never have changed from the Tour models.

He is talking about the pedal position in relation to the motor facing forward.

im not sre because I have never done it but, I have owned maxxums for over 10 years. cant you just remove the top cover and remove the arrow dial and then replace it in the correct position?
