Top Water vs Swimbait rods

Gents,

Appologies for what should be common knowledge, but can some explain to me the difference between the two, or what they look for in each.  I have found it difficult to distinguish between the two.

Presently I am using my swimmer for both and am happy, but wonder if I am missing something

thanks in advance,

Al

What kind of swimbaits are you talking about? Small 3-6" paddletails like Keitechs, or full bodied 6-8" swimbaits like Hudds, or Hard 6-10" swimbaits like BBZ's? Those would be two to three different types of rods and actions right there...

I am the larger baits in the 1.5 ounce with the SB rod rated for 2 ounces

my smaller swimmer are being thrown on a GLX jig rod

Larger topwater baits like a Whopper Plopper 130 would be fine to throw on your swimbait rod.  Something like a small popper or walking type bait you probably want on a faster action rod.
