Lake Placid, FL

Featured Replies

Hello guys, I'm heading to lake placid for memorial weekend (26-29). I will be staying at an RV resort on Lake Grassy and the boat ramp for Lake Placid is right across the street! I have only been to Placid once, three years ago for tubing with the family, never fishing. I don't really have a clue what to do. I watched a couple Youtube vids and looks like most people fish deep ledges or brush piles. I didn't find any vids on Lake Grassy. Do you guys have any recommendations for what to look for (stay shallow or deep) and what baits to throw? Any help will be greatly appreciated, it's my pop's 50th and I want to take him out and put him on a couple fish. Also, do any of you know where I can get the fishing report for this area? And does lake Grassy have any decent fishing or should I just stay at Placid?

Thanks in advance and tight lines

All those lakes hold a decent number of big fish.  There are at least ten lakes in close proximity to where you are staying.  Contour maps are on line free for all those lakes.  Go to the University of Florida Lake watch, all those lakes are included.  Good quality maps.  I print them, and then laminate them.

Thanks

Lake June just north of placid has deep holes that often hold good size bass.  Good ramps.

Will do, I'm going to stop by a local tackle shop and get some advice.
