Cracking tubes

Featured Replies

I know this technique works in Michigan for smallies. Does it work down south for large mouth?

I have a hard time putting down  a tube while fishing one. Hop it drag it crack it or stroke it. I catch a lot of largemouth on tubes  consistently.

Well, call me asleep at the wheel, but just what is cracking? I fish tubes a lot, and have never heard the term.

I think it is dragging on the bottom in short quick burst only a couple inches at a time. I call that  technique dragging the bottom in short quick burst only a couple inches at a time but I think some call it cracking a tube because of the sound the line makes. I could be wrong.

That would be correct. Its done on semi slack line to make the tube jump up and foreword on the snap, but the slack allows it to dive back close to where it was. And you will need at least 3/8 ounce head to do it
