Orra Winch for big swimbaits?

Featured Replies

So I have a new Abu Orra Winch sitting here, collecting dust and I'm trying to find a use for it. I don't do any deep cranking and all of my shallow cranking needs are already taken care of. I have been pondering getting into bigger swimbaits/glidebaits, is this reel a good start? Can it handle 2-4oz baits?

I picked one up when Abu Garcia blew them out for pennies last month as a back-up swimbait reel. I took it out just to dial it in & see what it could handle. No problem throwing the weights you are asking about. The extra line capacity & the oversize handle make for a nice small swimbait reel.

Awesome! Thanks for the info. Guess I'll go for it then.

I think that reel will work out just fine for what you are planning to do with it.
