Strong wacky jigs

Featured Replies

Looking to find a sturdy wack jig head. I have used the VMC wack jig heads and the bass pro ones. I have had both of them bend out on large fish and on some brush. I am looking for something like the superline hooks but with a light weight on it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm thinking about just buying some hooks and using split shot on the shank for the weight and then just tying my own weed guards on.

I looked at those G-Finesse ones, they looked good. Id like to see one in person but I may get a pack to try out.

What weights do you use?

what size hook is the Gfinesse?

I use the Gamakatsu G-Finess. Awesome hooks...strong, wide gap, slender weight design, and the weed guard works well without inhibiting the hook-up ratio. They're a little expensive, but well worth it. Also, I saw a guy fishing a plain old EWG hook with a pegged bullet weight, and he caught plenty of fish. So your idea of choosing a hook and tying your own weed guard may  work out well for you.

It's a 1/0 hook and I fish the 1/8 most of the time.

Most of the water I fish is less than 10 ft deep. So that's perfect for me.

Some baits do well with weights and others don't need them

A GY 4 inch would do as well as weightless, while  other 5" might.

thanks for the info. I will have to give them all a try and see what sticks.
