shocks?

Featured Replies

has anyone put shocks on their trailer?

I had an old coil spring (home made) trailer for a 12 footer that had shocks, but I don't think I have ever seen a newer leaf spring boat trailer with shocks.

I had to buy a new trailer last year. It's a really nice trailer, big upgrade from my older one (it rusted out). I have noticed that the trailer bounces a lot. I was thinking of fabing up some shock mounts and putting a set of shock on it to slow down the bouncing and smooth out the ride.  I used to be into sport trucks and lowering trucks, and have a set of shocks from a lowered S-10 that look like they would be a great fit. I also have a set of air bags that might work to. Just wondering if anybody has tried this before and what you think of it?

I used to have an old trailer as well the had coil springs and shocks. Maybe the coil springs needed shocks. I would be interested to see what others think about shocks on a trailer.

I've never really seen where they were needed.  I'd say if they were they'd be an option on more boat trailers but I've rarely seen anyone offering them.

Team_Dougherty thanks for that web site. I might not have to fab a set of mounts.
