White caffeine shad.....

Featured Replies

We are still in spawn and will be for probably  will be for a couple more weeks.

The white caffeine shad has brought 80% of the fish in the boat, and the bigger fish too.  I don't consider it a swimmer, but it is had to justify my bigger and more expensive swimmer for this time of the yr.  Wally world and BPS were all out of them for the second week in a row.  Is this the same everywhere?

Almost got a new PB this weekend!  Mrs Bull looked in the box and pulls out a slammer and quickly pulled out a slammer and asked what the he'll do I need these things for..........she clearly doesn't understand, but made a good point.

Is that shad popular in your area and when do you move to true swimmers ( they have been a neglected bait for me for yrs)

Thanks,

Al

I use those and Flukes all year,I river fish alot and the Spots and Smallies tear em up.If i want to move a little faster i use a weighted hook. The fluke in white or Arkansas shiner work all year.Great baits

My local Wal Marts don't sell caffeine shad and neither does cabela's but they do sell zoom super flooks.

My Walmart has quite a few packages of them.  I bought one a little while ago, but haven't tried the product out yet.  Do you just fish these on swimbait hooks?

3 or 4/0 EWG light wire

I love the Caffiene Shad when fishing shallow grass, I fish it very fast  on a frog rod  with braided line using a combination of fast twitches and a little straight line retrieve . I tend to do better with the R.I. Skinny Dippers and similar baits prespawn when they seem to want it a slow to moderate swimming retrieve whereas I like to use the Caffiene Shad postspawn/ early summer when I seem to do better with a more erratic retrieve for reaction strikes .

I also use the Super Fluke , this I usually fish with florocarbon line and it excels when the fish want more glide from the bait .

Regarding color, whatever you are confident in , I do well with Smokey Shad & Watermelon Red in the clear weedy lakes that I like to fish.
