Hook left in Fish's mouth

Featured Replies

I hooked a large Grass Carp yesterday in my pond. Wasn't trying! As I got it to the bank, the line snapped. It swam away with a small crank bait in its lip.

I searched all the topics related to this situation. No help. Today I went to the pond with a large amount of floating catfish food hoping the carp would show. It did! No lure in its mouth. I know its the same one because it has a large white spot on the left side of the dorsal fin.

I think the key to this mystery is that I shaved the barb before fishing. In less than 24 hours, the carp got rid of the lure.

Happy Landings!!

Welcome aboard!

Quite likely the barbless hook did the trick. :)
