I'm getting ready to purchase a flipping rod and reel. I'll be flipping in tree tops and water hyacinths. What size tungsten weights and what size hooks will I need to use?

 

Any info. is greatly appreciated.

1/2 oz would be a good place to start.

The hook size depends on what your throwing. 

If a standard size beaver style plastic...Pit Boss, Sweet Beaver etc I use a 4/0.

 

The weight will depend on where you're throwing. 

If punching I start at a 3/4 and go from there.  

If it's not too thick I'd also start at 1/2.
