Anyone ever fish the Erie canal?  I have been to several fishable locations but never fished it.  Is the water quality any good?

I've never fished in it, but it runs through the area where I salmon fish in the fall in western NY. The overflow of it dumps into the one creek we fish and we always do well there, so I would assume that the water quality is safe for aquatic life. 

 

 

Hey that's the Holley falls!!! I live 5 minutes from there take the kids there because it's always got fish not big fish but fish nonetheless. 

 

I walk the canal and fish from time to time it's good for rock bass and smallies but there all like 10"ers at least where I'm at I do know closer to Erie is good for quality
