I have a jonh boat 14 ft no electronics on it now but I an interested in getting a trolling motor, what do i need what works best.is it as simple as mounting it and hooking two wires to a battery.should i add a fusable link to it what else might i need for smooth operation electronics wise.any and all info is wanted im sure some one else has done this before. any links would also be great

All if not most trolling motors come ready to hook up to a battery and run...   if you are going to run multiple motors and batteries is when you need to consider, going to wiring them all to a switch and then tying all your batteries if you want.

Will this be a transom mount hand controlled trolling motor or a bow mounted foot controlled trolling motor?

Like fish bear said most transom mounted trolling motors are ready to go right out of the box simply connect the alligator clips to the battery and your off but if you are mounting the trolling motor on the bow with a foot control and are placing the battery near the rear for weight distribution you need to install a fuse between the battery and the motor. Same for the transom mount if you are locating the battery somewhere away from the motor. this will lesson the chances of a short and damaging the motor and battery.
