converting to 24vlt system from a 12vlt system

Featured Replies

have a 175 proteamaluminumtracker with a 75optimax 2007year. trolling motor is 46#thrust 21gall fuel capacity.300#of people weight. want to upgrade to a 24v trolling motor system. have the coastal edition, leave closer to salt water but freshwater fished most of my life. it looks like im tight for room in the rear compartment where my 2 batteries now sit. is the added weight , running longer cables, and taking away storage room worth it, and the added expense. my friends say do it, i just dont know. i dont fish 12 hours a day, 6 hours tops. only problem is if i have to go in to thick vegetation to go after the lunkers, im lifting trolling motor out of water to clear the mess off trolling motor. Is this conversion a pain in the neck, need some good solid advice. Send ASAP.

alright im kind of confused here but i think your just wanting to make your 12v trolling motor a 24v trolling motor, to do so you will need to buy a 12/24v trolling motor then just connect the batteries together, then connect the trolling motor to the battery. if you got the money to do it then why not, you get more juice out of your batteries
