Question on Power Pro

Featured Replies

I got some new line (PowerPro) put on my Okuma Fina when I started fishing this summer and yesterday when I visited the tackle shop the guy told me it was 50lb test. I wasn't even aware they put that big a line on there so I asked the guy what he would recommend instead and he said 10lb should be sufficient. I had him put some PowerPro 10lb on the reel and it was definitely a big difference compared to the 50lb. I have to say I'm a big fan of the braided line. I only ever used monofilament my whole fishing life. The braided line is great that it doesn't twist or get all tangled.

My question then is this. I have the Okuma on a Field & Stream Tech-Spec rod (6' 6") medium fast action. Is the 10lb a good choice for bass fishing? I'm just wondering now if I shouldn't had the guy put something heavier on there.

Perfect line choice for that set up in my opinion.

I run 10 lb on all my spinning reels, and a couple baitcasters that throw soft plastics.

I have never had a problem.

I don't throw to the salad, so my strongest braid is 20.

Many here will suggest 10 for spinning and 30 for casters.....50 for flipping.

What ever works for you is fine.

Thanks :) Should hold up even if I run into a Sturgeon? lol

I have used 10 lb Power Pro on a 31 inch Redfish so it can take a beating but I don't know about a Sturgeon :)
