Combo for Light Fluke Bucktailing

Featured Replies

I am looking for a second opinion on a new rod and reel for light bucktailing. I would like it to be a 6' to 6.6' medium graphite rod able to throw a 3/8 to 1 oz bucktail on 10 lbs braid. Thanks for your opinions,

NEW1126

neither of those options are going to be able to handle a 3/8 to 1 oz bucktail in a medium power

My family only uses Shimano rods when we are fishing the saltwater so my opinion is a bit one sided but I would suggest the Teramar series.  I think the 6-6 is a medium fast but only handles up to about 1/2 oz.  Our standard is the 7' medium fast for almost all the inshore (flounder/fluke, striper, blue) fishing we do beyond catching bait.
