I tried using my daughter's small pony tail holders doubled to make an x on the stickbait.  Works great, cheap and requires no specail tool.  Plus they come in a bunch of colors to creste a hot spot.

Are those elastic hair bands ? I have tried that and its giving me some so-so results.

 

The Fall is slower to me compare to the O-rings. On three separate incident. I would launch it, rubber break. Im looking at the Senko flying in the air until it splashdown in the middle of the lake.  

 

Im still using the O-Rings until I find something cheaper ...

Rubber with cloth over them.  Have had no problems.  I use a 1/16 wacky weedless jig if I want it to fall faster.  I use an octopus hook otherwise.  I also hook them Texas style on an EWG hook amd fish like a fluke or worm in pads.  That has been more successful for me than wacky, for some reason.

One good thing about an x with hair bands is that it is easy to put the hook perpendicular to the bait.

If you know the size you want you can get hundreds of them for a few bucks on ebay, just avoid fishing-branded ones and they become super cheap.  

I have been using the spring bait keepers on my wacky rig. It holds the baits well and keeps it from ripping apart. The only minor thing is that there is a small piece of wire sticking out of the bottom if the worm is not thick enough. This solution is good for senko style baits but may not work if using the thinner worms (e.g. Zoom trick worm, Roboworm).

There are small , medium and large springs like this  you could use (depending on thickness of worm) .
