TM foot control

Featured Replies

I have an MK Vector 55 3x.

It's a transom mount with a twist tiller speed control.

Is there some way to add foot controlls?

Remember I'm in a canoe so a bow mount foot controlled motor is out of the question.

thanks

Do you want to just control on/off or on/off and direction of travel?

If the former, then you can get a foot switch to cycle the power.

If the latter, I have absolutely no idea.

Avid, I think there is a way to add an on/off foot switch but not for steering also, strictly power on, power off.

These work great.  Foot controlled. Variable speed.  Just think about where you want to go and it'll happen.

Here is an idea I just came up with. Since you have a 3X motor the pedal would not have to articulate too far to be usable and you could put both feet on it if you are sitting. add in the remote on off and you are in business. it wouldn't be very hard to fab up.

mount the on off switch in the middle of the rocker, left foot down to go left, right foot down to go right.

I was looking for the total package, on/off, speed and steering.

I didn't think there was anything available.

I really want to thank cart and especially 4biz for there creative suggestions.

Hey 4B, check out the front of my rig. See the Pulleys?. After I had the surgery surgery I rigged up a pulley system to help me get the canoe into the pickup. It worked.

I won't be using your TM system of course, but I have a real appreciation of contraptions.

ps. did you ever hear of Rube Goldberg?

If not google him. Very interesting man.

OOOps.  I just checked out the pic and you can't see the pulley's.  Sorry.

Of course I know who Rube Goldberg is! I'm a tinkering, jerry rigging, duct tape and jb weld using  MO_FO!

This is one of my favorite computer games of all times. It is all about solving little puzzles using different objects to create a Rube Goldberg device. VERY ENTERTAINING!!!

A while back, MK made a transom powerdrive.  Course this was back when they still had SS shafts, and I have only seen ones less than 30 # of thrust.  Not that you would want this, but the MK Edrive has console steering.  You could be the only canoe with remote steering.  Maybe you could patent it. :)

So its like $50,000 but it comes with a free boat!

You might have better luck transom mounting a bow mount with foot control. It would actually be pretty easy. Chop off the mount and install the transom mount. Might take a little figurin' but shouldn't be too hard. Those things can be taken completely apart so if you are mechanically inclined, I bet you could pull it off.

Yeah, I could do that, but my MK is such a great motor (and pricey) I won't be parting with it anytime soon.

Next time out I'll be getting some kind of pond boat with a trailer and bow mount.

Love to dream about future purchases.

The only other thing I can think of is keep an eye out on ebay for a spare pedal and try to get it to work. It has all the wiring you need and a mechanical means of moving something, so it's probably not a bad starting point. I found a motorguide pedal on there for my buddy and it ended up selling for $30. Thats not bad for something to experiment with.

Avid...here is an idea I saw elsewhere...I am going to do this for my pontoon boat...going to rewire and use...i can then move my TM to the rear and adjust speed easily by placing reostat switch close to me...then I am going to rig somthing similar like 4bizz has drawn up (ty 4 bizz for the idea)...I will then be hands free
