Motorguide Tour Digital Problem

Featured Replies

I have this 74# trolling motor and it is brand new.  The problem started right out of the box.  On 24v I can't go over 1/2 way on the speed selector (infinite) without the motor kicking on/off rapidly.  I changed out the breaker (50AMP) but no change.  I connected directly to the battery and still no change.  I connected it to 12v only and it works fine.  Batteries are good, new wiring in boat (6ga) everything else is good.  Someone told me that there is a circuit board or something in the power head that is causing the problem.  It is a known problem with Motorguide supposedly but I can't find anything like it on the internet.  Can anyone out there offer a suggestion beside contacting Motorguide?

First thing I would check is the breakers. Sounds like your pulling to much current and kicking the breaker, I would go with 50 amps. There cheap I would just go ahead and replace them both.

Give this a Try and keep your fingers crossed, if this don't work might need to take it back adn swap it out.

Good Luck fedxpress

If its new. take it back and get a replacement. And I would not run it on 12 volts. these new one are made to run on 24volts if its a 24 volt motor, not like the old ones that were 12/24 volt motor.

Next are you sure its a 74# 24 volt Tour series Digital motor?

I checked Motorguide they do not make a 74# tour series. They make a 54# tour and its a 12 volt TM. the 24 volt TM are either 70# or 82# then you move up to the 105# 36 volt.

I have the 105# Tour Digital series TM, starting its 3 season and no problems at all.
