Humminbird sonar DualBeam or QuadraBeam?

Featured Replies

Would you pay the extra $25 for the Humminbird FishFinder 777c2 DualBeam over the QuadraBeam?

Is there another soner you would recommend over the 777c2?

The Cabela's ad states "The Humminbird FishFinder 777c2 features the highest resolution displays with 640 vertical pixels. Pro-grade performance with a sleek new design and Tilt & Swivel Quick-Release Mounting System or optional in-dash mounting. Ultra high-definition, 5" 256-color grayscale display. Boasts 4,000-watt peak-to-peak power with 1500-ft. depth capability. Detailed 2-1/2" target separation and temperature come standard in all 700 series units. DualBeam PLUS sonar, or Quadrabeam for clarity. GPS trackplotting capable with optional GPS receiver (sold separately). Speed sensor included.

For $25 I would get it. It will give you more area to look at. instead of just down you can look out to the sides

I don't have the quadrabeam. I have the Martix 87c & 787c2 , but Only the dual beam, but am thinking about getting it. It will cost alot more now than $25 since I all ready have the units. I would buy it now for only the $25 extra. You don't have to run the quad all the time, but It is nice to have .

I would go for the 787c2i over the 777c2. for the extra $150 you get GPS and mapping

the 787c2i has a unimap built in and is compatible with navionics cards, the 777c2 is not. the 777c2 will recieve GPS ( with extra GPS receiver) but not any mapping, and you will have to buy a GPS receiver for it if you want GPS, I think that is over $100.

If GPS is not a big thing with you then The 777c2 is good, but if you would like GPS and mapping then The 787c2i is a way better unit.

I would spend the extra $25 and get the quadrabeam.  It will allow you to see more water and to pinpoint your targets quicker.  See here for better explanation:

I have the 767 combo.  If you are able I would recommend the 787c2 with color for about $100 more. It will give you color, which I thought was overpriced, but now  I wish I would have gotten it.

Or if you want better yet get the 797c2.  see here:

Or if you want the cats bottom and never look back, get the 997c.  I wish I would have.

You'll like any of them but, If your like me, you won't be able to go out on the  water without thinking,

" I sure wish I had that side imaging unit so I could really see what is down there"

Good luck.
