Setting up a Bass Hunter?

Featured Replies

I just got a 9'6" Bass Hunter and would appreciate some input as to how to set it up. I'll be fishing with a buddy half the time and by myself the other half. I bought a Humminbird depth finder with a transom mount transducer. I can mount the trolling motor on the front or the transom. Is it more efficient on the transom, pushing rather than pulling? Also, where would be the best place to mount the transducer? On the front if the motor's in the back, to avoid turbulence?

Any advice would be welcomed, thanks.

Well, there isn't much choice when dealing with these.  I would mount the motor in the rear if that is to be YOUR seat.  Transducer can usually be mounted on the trolling motor, if not, mount in rear if that's where YOUR seat will be.

Biggest thing with these boats is when (not if) they get a leak along the seam.  Check often.  The only one I have seen that hasn't developed a leak was given a major silicone treatment along both sides of the seam the day it was purchased.  Looks terrible but does not leak.
