desperatley trying to ad electric start to older 18 hp evinrude  what all do i need and where can i get it

motor is either 1965 or 66 model.  in beautiful shape.   bad shoulder.

The main items you will need to come up with are the starter, flywheel, battery cables, and a starter button.

Those old motors didin't have a charging system so there is none of that.

I have seen some that had the toothed flywheel for a starter, if you are lucky enought to have one, that's one less item you may need, if the starter ring is big enough to make contact with the starter.

Here is my 18 HP EVINRUDE. It has the GEAR ring starter part number: 304736 in the magneto assembly. They must have had an electric starter version, but my original parts catalog does not show any of the electric starter parts. Sorry I know this does not help you but I thought that if you did not have the GEAR ring maybe the part number could help.

Im selling this one for $600. Is that too much? or not enough?

That bracket on the side with the square section in the middle, holding the pull start comes off and the starter bolts in the place of it.  The same three bolts holding it will hold the starter.

$600 is a lot more than I would ever pay for one.

sorry for the slow response . been in hospital , have the ring gear on it already, now to just find starter and other electrical parts and im all over it  thanx again
